Introducing Query From The Queue

I often receive terrific questions, via e-mail, regarding a variety of topics often relevant to many of the things I enjoy discussing on this blog. Truly thoughtful stuff. When answering them, I often encourage the inquirers to post questions such as the ones they asked in the blog itself in an effort to facilitate more of a clan mentality. In other words, they asked something I thought was worth sharing.

It occurred to me then, that this clan could engage in a new ritual. My proposition is this: I would like to request that readers ask a question, and weekly, I will pick one that I think I can answer intelligently. Then I will post the original question, and my answer.

However, once the idea was sprung, with it were potential problems. To overcome some of them I think some guidelines might be necessary. So here are some rules:

1) Ask the question via e-mail, not in a comment. The comments are moderated and getting a great many comments to moderate might be wasteful (not to mention that confusion over which questions in the comments were regarding that post and which were intended for this ritual would ensue).

2) Refrain from asking stock pick questions such as, “What do you think of NAVZ?” or “What stock should I buy?” Reach deep down and ask something of substance.

3) Include your name as you would like it to appear in the post, should it be the one answered. Also include a web address if you would like me to make a link to it.

4) Try your best to avoid misspellings and such (but don’t worry, I’m not perfect either). I will post it exactly as it was asked.

5) Try to word the question with as much clarity as possible. The question will be easier to answer because I won’t have to guess what’s being asked.

6) Send the question to the following e-mail address (remove the spaces from around the @ symbol):
